At Rolling Stone Landscapes we believe beautiful spaces start with thoughtful design, the selections of quality materials, plant life, and implemented by a skilled team who are connected to the visions of each project.

Based in Sydney, New South Wales, we offers our clients over 25-years expertise in designing and creating beautiful, luxurious and enjoyable spaces across gardens, pools, and entertaining pavilions for residential and acreage builds.

Our inspiration comes from meeting with our clients and gaining a true understanding of their needs and how they would like to enjoy a newly designed space and its relationship with the architecture.

The work we have proudly produced across over two decades has received notoriety in the press as well as throughout our industry with multiple awards to our name. Our reputation has afforded us a premier place in the market, which is a position we are proud to retain and continuously build on.

Our hand-selected construction teams consist of qualified tradesmen, trained staff and skilled contractors who specialise in the art of the built landscape space. Fluid communication between our design studio and our construction teams underpins our success.

Dean Herald

Founder | Principal Landscape Designer | Managing Director

Dean founded Rolling Stone Landscapes at age 19, designing and building award winning projects. Over this time, he has demonstrated why he is an industry leader, receiving multiple awards including a gold award at the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show in London, Australian landscaper of the year along with being inducted into the LNA Landscaper Hall of Fame. Over the years, Dean has created outdoor living spaces that is tailored to his client’s needs and has been a source of information and inspiration for the landscape industry. As the managing director of RSL, Dean enjoys being a part of every aspect of the company, ensuring that the high quality each client expects is delivered on every project. His leadership skills have been passed down to each and every manager that has worked with him on each aspect of the company. As a published author of 2 titles, "Resort Style Living" and ''Residential Landscape Design'' his work is featured regularly in print and TV shows.

Matt Denton

Construction Manager

As the earliest team member joining in 1996, Matt is an integral part of the RSL construction team and worked on all of the seven gold medal winning show gardens, including the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show garden in London. His career has seen his involvement in many high end residential and acreage projects. Matt’s construction knowledge, engineering solutions, estimating skills and experience is an invaluable asset to the design & construction divisions and is a great resources of wisdom across the teams

James Caruso

Operations Manager | Senior Landscape Designer

From his beginnings in 2003, James has grown to play a major role in the daily activities of the design and construction divisions of the business. James initially began working for RSL in the construction division assisting in building many award-winning projects, including all of the seven gold medal winning show gardens. As a qualified landscape designer he progressed to the lead management position in the design studio, bringing a strong relationship with the RSL construction team which has led him to become operations manager. Overseeing all facets of the company, he shows he can manage multiple tasks and projects throughout each day.

Mark Heath

Construction Manager

Having gained his trade certificate in landscape construction Mark joined the RSL team in 1997 and played a lead role in the 7 gold medal award winning gardens, including the Chelsea Flower Show in London. His high level of construction knowledge and attention to detail ensures that every project Mark is involved in is built to the highest quality and the end result has included multiple awards and praise from our clients.

Mick Lillyman

Construction Manager

Mick joined RSL in 2000, completing his apprenticeship with the company, Mick has been part of many award-winning gardens including the gold medal win at the 2006 Chelsea Flower Show in London. This inspired Mick as he then spent time living in London, completing two more award winning Chelsea Flower Show gardens in 2009 and 2010. December 2010 saw Mick return to Australia where he re-joined the RSL team. A highly skilled tradesman, Mick is well respected by both the clients he works for and the team and trades he manages.

Luke Randall

Senior Landscape Designer

Having joined RSL in 2013, Luke brings experience in both the Landscape Design and Horticultural industries. In his many years as a designer, Luke has worked on award winning projects and show gardens, both locally and interstate. His sound understanding of design principles and broad plant knowledge will help create a design that reflects the clients’ lifestyle and needs. Luke holds several diplomas in horticulture, including Nursery Management and Landscape Design.

Bernice Herald

Business Manager

After a successful career as a qualified florist, Bernice played a role in the early years of Rolling Stone Landscapes with her husband Dean at 19. Initially part time in the business, the company grew quickly enabling a fully time role. With her skills in customer relations, she took on the role of office and HR manager which developed further to Finance manager in the following years. As the company has grown and new compliance is required she has ensured the correct policies and procedures are in place whilst connecting directly with team members, clients and contractors.

Luke Murray

Project Manager

After completing his training from an early age and up into the beginning of management Luke took on the challenge to start his own business, which developed his skills further. In 2016 Luke returned to RSL taking on a key management role, demonstrating a great passion for the projects he works on. As a motivated team leader, Luke never shies away from a challenging project and thoroughly enjoys constructing unique projects for our clients. Luke is a great communicator, always in contact with his clients, trades and the rest of the RSL team to ensure that his projects run efficiently.

Jack Hams

Project Manager

Since joining the team in 2010, Jack has developed a high skill set and work ethic, which he puts down to the leadership and teaching skills of the other RSL managers he has worked under. As a modest team leader, Jack shows great passion and enthusiasm for the projects he is involved in and constantly seeks ways to improve every aspect of his day to day management on site.

Paul McArthur

Project Manager

Having worked in the landscape construction industry for some time, Paul joined the RSL team in 2009 bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. Excited by the high quality of design of each project he works on, Paul performs consistently, delivering a finished product he is proud of and includes many award winning gardens.

Jayke Thieler

Project Manager

After joining in 2016 Jayke has begun to manage projects alongside our senior management team and is growing well in that role. His construction skills, along with client and contractor connections, has set a great foundation for his growth in this role into the future.

Tosh Herald

Human Resources

Tosh joined the RSL team in 2012. He is in charge of welcoming people into the office and making them feel comfortable, lunch time consumption supervision, bin inspections, and will be found resting occasionally after a busy morning. He loves being around people and works well with all the staff. His happy personality always makes everyone’s day brighter. He is a great asset to the company and can assist greatly in finishing your lunch.
